Privacy policy

FuelFox shows you live UK fuel prices on a map. We don't sell your data and we don't run advertising trackers. You don't need to sign up, give us an email, or create a password to use the app or the website.

We collect the bare minimum needed to make the product useful: your approximate location when you ask for nearby prices, an anonymous identifier so your favourites stick between sessions, and basic anonymous usage stats so we can fix what's broken.

When you open the map or tap "locate me", the app asks your phone for your current location and sends those coordinates to our servers so we can return the cheapest forecourts near you. We don't store the coordinate after we've answered the request.

Location only runs when you actively use a feature that needs it. There's no background tracking and no location history kept anywhere.

When you first open the app we create an anonymous device identifier so your saved forecourts persist if you close and reopen the app. Linked to that identifier we hold:

• Your saved (favourited) forecourts.
• Your preferences — preferred fuel grade, distance units, and any filters you've set.

We don't store browsing history, contact lists, microphone or camera input, advertising identifiers, or behavioural profiles.

We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) to count things like "how many people opened the map today" and to catch crashes. Events are tied to an anonymous identifier, never your name, email, or location.

On the website only, we record anonymous session replays so we can see how people are using new features and where the UI confuses them. Form inputs are masked at record time, so we never see what you type. Replays are retained for 30 days. The mobile app does not record sessions.

On the website, analytics stay off if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. You can also opt out manually below.

On mobile, uninstalling the app removes your anonymous identifier and everything tied to it from our database within 30 days. To delete your data sooner, email hello@fuelfox.uk and we'll wipe it within 7 days.

Fuel-price data is kept indefinitely so we can show historical context. Per-device data (favourites, preferences) is kept for as long as the device is active and cleared 30 days after uninstall. Anonymous analytics events are retained for 12 months.
